Episode 34 - The Underdwellers (Batman: The Animated Series S01E06)

Zack here, pals! I'm not on this episode! That's okay though, because we have War and Beast's Emily here as a special guest for this VERY special episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

In between their very, very hurtful insults about me, the crew discuss this widely considered low point in Batman: The Animated Series, as well as Emily's love of Tim Drake, Mitch's confusion with All-Star Superman and Graham's new social media presence.

Your Komix Korner recommendation for the week, courtesy of Emily, is Red Robin by Chris Yost, Ramon Bachs and Marcus To.

Episode 33 - Injustice For All (Justice League S01E18-19)

We have SO MANY villains for you this week, friends. We've got cat villains, bald villains, clown villains. You want a swampy corpse villain? We've got a swampy corpse villain! And they're all fighting The Justice League in Injustice For All.

As the Injustice Gang attempts to defeat the Justice League, and Batman's raw sexual charisma, the boys are forced to answer some important questions. How good is Injustice 2? What would happen if Zack and Graham Firestorm-ed? What is the worst Ska Band name? Just how sexy is Batman?

Apologies for the slight echo, we are working on an audio issue! Should be resolved soon.

Your Komix Korner recommendations for this week are The Mighty Thor by Walt Simonson and Batman #23 by Tom King and Mitch Gerards.

Episode 32 - Grounded (Static Shock S01E04)

aggravatingarmadillo

Gotta get up, gotta go—to the beach! Hey gang, it’s me, co-host Mitchell. I was at the beach this week, and had a very nice time. The surf, the sand: there was no mistaking this environment i found myself in for anything other than a beach! Anyway, these dorks talked about Static Shock, which I didn’t watch. I assume the people’s champion, Fruit Brute, was cruelly omitted from both A and B plots alike this week, so who cares, you know? Just… who cares. I understand some sort of aggravating armadillo features in this episode. Real Z-tier Mega Man X Maverick, if you ask me.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read? recommendations for this week are Fables (as a whole, I think), created by Bill Willingham and Lan Medina, and Brave Chef Brianna, by Sam Sykes and Selina Espiritu.

Episode 31 - Heroes (Batman Beyond S01E06)

The crew once again travels to the distant future of Gotham City, this time to watch a trio of Very Legally Distinct superheroes arrive on the scene to ruin Batman's day.

As we witness the wholly original, do not steal, origins of the Terrific Trio, we also debate the potential future revivalist of the Hitler 'stache, the true nature of Keyser Soze and announce a new bonus episode and an upcoming Injustice 2 tournament that you (yes, you!) can play in and beat up your favorite co-host for prizes and glory.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendations for this week are Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughn and Cliff Chiang and Nightwing Vol. 1: Better than Batman by Tim Seely and Javier Fernandez.

Episode 30 - Legends (Justice League S01E16-17)

Salutations, chums! Your favorite animated superhero based internet radio broadcast returns once more to discuss what is probably the best episode of Justice League's first season: Legends.

As Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern and Flash are left stranded in an alternate world populated by the comic book heroes of John Stewart's youth, they come up against both hilarious and surprisingly harsh versions of 40's-50's America, some DASTARDLY CAPERS and a dark, terrible secret.

This episode is so good that the crew stays on topic for the majority of the episode and collectively discover the absolute brilliance of Gardner F. Fox, creator of basically every cool thing in DC Comics.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Thor: God of Thunder by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic,

Episode 29 - Fury (Justice League S01E14-15)

Sorry for the late episode, folks, Zack came down with an illness that is TOTALLY UNRELATED from the one documented in this episode of Justice League. We discover a cadre of one-off villains plot to kill all men via a (magical?) plague, leaving Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl the only Leaguers well enough to combat it!

Amidst the would-be patriarchy smashing we discuss DC's upcoming "Dark Matter" line of books, discover none of us should be allowed in a kitchen ever again and Cameron places himself in time-out so stealthily that no one actually notices.

Episode 28 - Pretty Poison (Batman: The Animated Series S01E05)

One of Batman's biggest villains makes her debut as we return to Gotham City circa 19XX to meet Poison Ivy!

While everyone's favorite sexy plant-based character (sorry, Swamp Thing) gets introduced, we are also treated to some early anime-ass Batman animation, Batman's voyeur fetish and everyone's least favorite group impersonation: Nick Nolte!

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Moon Knight by Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire!

Episode 27 - Change of Heart (The Zeta Project S01E04)

I am thou, thou art I. From the sea of thy soul, I come: A new episode of your favorite (?) podcast! While Zack vainly tries to forestall the inevitable with talk about Persona and its detrimental effect on his life, the crew once again has to check in with everyone's most hated robot: Zeta.

In between the bouts of burning, burning hatred for this show, Mitch reads from a school report he wrote at 11 years old, Graham threatens to leave the show several times, and we are all inspired by a rousing speech.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Daredevil by Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera, Chris Samnee and many others.

Bonus Episode 3 - New Avengers (Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes S02E23)

APRIL FOOL'S! By which we mean, we are the fools and we are releasing this episode in the month of April. In a real two birds, one stone moment we knock out both a delayed April Fool's episode and grant Zack a much-needed Iron Fist Appreciation Station by watching an episode of Marvel's most ambitious cartoon endeavor: Avenger's: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!

In between the rise of a new team of Avengers, including the likes of Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Iron Fist and Wolverine, we discuss the many, many, many problems with Netflix's Marvel's Iron Fist, why The Thing is just the best, Graham's burning distate for Kang and Mitch discovers a whole new level of theme song to hate.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Secret Six by Gail Simone and various artists including Dale Eaglesham, Brad Walker and Nicola Scott.

Episode 25 - The Last Laugh (Batman: The Animated Series S01E04)

Hey everyone, this is Zack! Mitch was unable to upload the episode this week, so I had to fill-in. Unfortunately, I wasn't on this one! So I'm gonna make my best guess about what happens:

The crew is joined by Kendall, our first non-bonus episode guest, as they discuss the second Joker-focused episode of Batman so far. And there's only been 4 episodes! Cameron probably references no less than 3 but no greater than 5 BibleThings, Graham sniffs a bunch and Mitch is the only thing that keeps people coming back.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendations for this week are Detective Comics by James Tynion IV and Eddy Barrows and Spider-Man: The Lost Years by J.M. DeMatteis and John Romita Jr.

Episode 23 - The Brave and the Bold (Justice League S01E13-14)

The full crew returns for an extra-length episode filled with gorillas, mind control, and a concerted effort to kill Zack by the rest of the boys. We finally meet one of the DCAU's greatest villains, Grodd, and Flash finally begins to develop a little bit beyond simply being The Horniest Man Alive. Still pretty dang horny, though. We also discover the mysteries of Mitch's tortellini, go far too in depth on the history of gorillas and struggle to find a single motion picture that Cameron has actually seen.

Episode 22 - War World (Justice League S01E10-11)

Mitch is out this week, so we-wait hold on, where are you going? C'mon! We still have jokes! Mostly! Join the remaining crew as we visit beautiful War World, perfect for all your violence based tourism needs. In addition to watching Superman make inspiring a societal revolution look easy, we find some distressing similarities between Mongul and the 45th President of the United States, extol the virtues of John Wick and Graham and Zack fly too close to the wrestling sun while Cameron makes them pay for it.

Episode 21 - Meltdown (Batman Beyond S01E05)

FREEZEPEEZY

Y'all, this show is good. This week, we get our first of the few multi-generational Batman Beyond villains in one Dr. Victor Fries! Yes, to his great chagrin, Victor is still alive, and it's up to our Batmen to... protect him?! *record scratch* Elsewhere in the episode: Zack grapples again with his arch nemesis, Audio Oopsies, Cameron consumes a lavish banquet on-mic, Mitchell reluctantly certifies the concept of wrestling entertainment on the whole as "good," and we collectively babble about Fire Emblem ad nauseum. Be sure to stay tuned until the very end of the episode, dear listener, when our very own Graham AKA Grahamuel AKA "Grahamsta" delivers us... to paradise.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Pluto, by Naoki Urasawa, Osamu Tezuka, and Takashi Nagasaki.

Episode 20 - Nothing to Fear (Batman: The Animated Series S01E03)

Scarecrow has attacked the show and discovered our greatest fear: not having complete audio files! Due to a technical uh-oh, we sadly only have about half of an episode for you this week. Sorry, folks. But you will get to listen to the latest on Tim Daly's ill advised skiing career, Alan Moore's journey into the rap scene and the greatest mystery of the show so far: Did Mitch sit in some cat shit?

Episode 19 - Aftershock (Static Shock S01E02)

The timeline is restored! After mistakenly uploading the wrong episode last week, we have come back to Dakota City to check in with our old friend Virgil Hawkins! Shit's gotten a bit weird since we've last been here. While Static is still getting his super hero legs under him, we discover why Hot Streak is the greatest supervillain in the DCAU and witness a truly clandestine meeting.

The crew also chats about the Nintendo Switch, the filmography of Meshach Taylor and more Fruit Brute talk than you could possibly imagine.

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendations for this week are Star-Lord by Chip Zdarsky and Kris Anka and Headlopper by Andrew MacLean.

Episode 18 - The Way of All Flesh (Superman: The Animated Series S01E07)

We're back in Metropolis this week, and this time we've got continuity! Join us as we follow the body horror filled descent into a metal hell that is the life of John Corben, aka Metallo. What could have driven a wealthy mercenary to a life where he can't go to the bone zone? Prooooobably Lex Luthor, this is a Superman show after all.

We also discuss Zack's complete lack of tolerance for scary movies, Cameron's role as THE BIBLE GUY, Mitch's illicit Christmas Tree Crimes and an in depth analysis of 2017 Royal Rumble Winner Randall Keith Orton's RKO.

Episode 17 - Paradise Lost (Justice League S01E08-09)

Hail and well met, adventurers! Due to budgetary concerns, the league find themselves scraping together all the loose animation frames they can find as they're sucked into episode writer Joseph Kuhr's D&D campaign. And I mean why not? It's got a giant snake in it!

During today's Wonder Woman-centric episode, Mitchell shares a story of snow day heroics, Cameron dons his dungeon master hat to critique Felix Faust's wizarding tactics (but praise Hades' villainous rhetoric), and Graham becomes indignant that baka gaijin continue to interpret Hades' as villainous at all. [music continues]

Your Komix Korner/The Fuck You Read?'s recommendation for this week is Kingdom Come, by "Wet" Mark Waid and Alex Ross.

Episode 16 - The Enemy Below (Justice League S01E06-07)

Join the Teenagers With Attitude crew for our Justice League/Power Rangers crossover special as they attempt to nail down the worst podcast intro of all time, spend twenty minutes talking about how good Batman Beyond is, and then FINALLY get down to business to discuss Aquaman's first Justice League appearance, his beleaguered and undeserved past as a punching bag, and how is very clearly NOT YO MAMA'S AQUAMAN! Also we just have so, so many questions about the Atlanteans and why their city works the way it does.
